Our Goal:
Our goal is to provide a quality, developmentally appropriate and safe environment for your children to grow. The intent of this policy guide is to provide information that is both helpful and useable. We want to strengthen our partnership with you by providing the very best care for your child!
Parent Visitation Policy
Children's Enchanted Learning Center has an open door policy for parents. We welcome and encourage you to visit at any time. Stop by and eat lunch or observe your child’s activities whenever you like. Our goal is to provide a positive learning experience for your child. We encourage parents to participate on field-trips and in classroom activities.
Vacation Policy
After your child has been here for six consecutive months he or she will receive vacation time. Each child receives two weeks of vacation a year. The child must be out for the entire week Monday through Friday. Our year runs January 1st through December 31st. You may only use one week between November 15th and January 15th. After the two weeks of vacation have been used, full tuition is due if your child is out any additional days.
Illness and Accident Policy
Children's Enchanted Learning Center’s policy for the care of ill children is based on ensuring that the center and staff are available to meet the needs of all children in the group.
School Age Programs
CELC transports children to and from Fairmont and Turner Elementary, and also on field-trips. Children under the age of four will not be transported.
If your child is enrolled in our School-age program and we do not have to pick him or her up from school, please call us before 2:00pm.
Summer Program
Each summer we offer a special program with hands-on activities for younger and older children in a variety of categories such as arts and crafts, science, cooking, dance, drama, music, communication, and fitness. Field trips are planned for children ages four and older. If your child will only be enrolled for the summer and you would like to use vacation time, you will receive two weeks at half-off that week’s tuition rate. Your child must be out Monday through Friday.
Outdoor Play
Outdoor playtime in fresh air contributes to a child’s good health and overall development. We plan daily outdoor activities. It is generally our policy that a child who comes to the center must be well enough to participate in both indoor and outdoor play. If there is a medical reason that your child cannot play outdoors but is well enough to be at the center, we will be happy to comply with your physician’s request. Children remain inside when weather is inclement (i.e., rain) or in extreme cold or heat.
Field Trips
We may schedule field trips to places of interest in the community. When taking a field trip the safety of your child is our primary concern. Children must be four years or older to go on any field trips. In advance of each trip, we will notify you of the details and will require your written permission for each trip. Children on a field trip are required to adhere to safety control standards such as buckled seat belts. Children who do not adhere to the safety standards will not be allowed to participate in future field trips. We will notify you in advance of any additional fees.
Nutrition
Children’s Enchanted Learning Center’s nutrition program meets the U.S. Department of Agriculture (U.S.D.A) nutritional standards. Meals are served family style, which children assisting in the setting, serving and clean-up. We provide morning and afternoon snacks with items selected from two of the four food groups. Breakfast is served until 8:00am. If your child is not going to eat at the center please be sure they eat a balanced breakfast prior to arriving to the center. Menus are posted in the center for review. All substitutions are of the same food group and are also posted.
Ongoing Communication
We encourage you to talk to your child’s lead caregiver at the center regularly. We may have a staff change in your child’s classroom during the day as we are open for 12.5 hours each day. Please speak with your child’s caregiver to identify the best time for daily personal communication.
Newsletters
Our bi-monthly newsletter keeps parents informed of our center activities. The newsletter includes announcements, notes about upcoming events, and news about group activities.
Special Events
The center schedules several events during the year designed to provide parents, children, and family members with special opportunities to enjoy each other at the center. Events range from Open House, special nights, shared Thanksgiving dinners, family cook-outs, fall festivals as well as holidays and traditions with special meanings for our center families.
